SWABI, Aug 5: Tehsil Swabi Nazim Masood Jabar has alleged that the Awami National Party MNAs and MPAs were meddling in the tehsil government affairs, and posed a threat to the local bodies system.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that the former MNA of ANP and the party’s district president Haji Rehmanullah, his son and MPA Amir Rehman, and other parliamentarians had been involved in horse-trading.
The opposition in the tehsil council had already moved a no-confidence motion against Masood Jabar while the tehsil Naib Nazim Ali Yar Khan had already been removed. This, according to Mr Jabbar, was illegal and unconstitutional.
Flanked by president of Independent Swabi Group Muqarab Khan and other members, he alleged that the women councillors and other members were shifted to Swat and Abbottabad, and it had been declared that they would unseat the tehsil Nazim through a no-confidence motion.
He appealed to the provincial governor, chief minister, provincial minister for local government and the National Reconstruction Bureau to take notice of the political parties’ interference in tehsil government affairs.
“The members of the council, including the women councillors should be made free to exercise their right of vote according to the Local Bodies Ordinance 2001,” he demanded.
He claimed that he commanded majority and it would be proved when the session of the council is convened.
He rejected the opposition’s allegations that he was involved in corruption.
