KARACHI, Aug 3: There is a need to upgrade the railways’ signalling system as it will streamline departures and arrivals of trains. This was stated by the Pakistan Railway Workers Federation on Sunday.
Chief of the workers’ federation Manzoor Razi said that the outdated signalling system, which had not been properly maintained in the past, had finally collapsed during the recent heavy rains, causing delays in trains’ schedule.
Stressing the need to upgrade the railways’ microwave telecommunication system, he said that the link between Karachi and other towns of the country was unreliable, compounding the problem of train delays, adding that the link had not been working properly for the past many months.
WATER SHORTAGE: The union has also criticized the KESC for the prolonged power suspension in the Railways Cantt Colony and Kalapul Colony, saying the power outage had caused a shortage of water in these areas.
