Jatoi for execution of patent rules

KARACHI, Aug 2: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Liaquat Ali Jatoi has advised Controller, Patent Office to prepare a comprehensive report based on suggestions and recommendations for effective implementation of the rules and regulation to protect the intellectual property rights of the investors especially the foreign investors.

He was talking to the controller, Patent, Yasmeen Abbassi who called on him here on Saturday.

The minister advised the controller, Patent to submit the report as soon as possible so that a summary could be moved to the Prime Minister in this regard.

The minister said that the government was keen to provide a congenial atmosphere to the foreign investors so that the industries could flourish and more job opportunities could be created.

He said that providing effective protection to intellectual property right was a step in the same direction.

The Federal Minister for Industries and Production also held a meeting with the chairman, Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) Col. Akbar Hussain.

A delegation of Sindh Motorcycle Assemblers Association also called upon the minister.

The minister gave assurance to the delegates that at all possible steps would be taken to provide motorcycles at cheaper cost to the public and to patronize the indigenous industry in this regard.—APP
