KARACHI, July 25: FPCCI president Riaz Ahmed Tata has expressed concern over ghee manufacturers’ strike against non-refund of sales tax by the CBR.
Mr Tata said the strike would create problems for the people due to short supply of ghee and cooking oil. He said the issue should be taken up with the government in proper way instead of closing their factories.
The FPCCI chief said the federation had already discussed the issue with the government, including the commerce minister on various occasions/meetings.
He maintained that government functionaries had been delaying the resolution of this issue without any excuse.
The business community has been impressing upon the government that the refund issue has become a main hurdle for them and will badly affect the export target.
Meanwhile, the FPCCI chief has called for repeal of section section 73. He said the FPCCI standing committee on anomalies had already made a unanimous demand for the withdrawal of this section which has been creating serious problem for the business community.—APP
