KARACHI, Jan 2: The government has created a new cell in the Special Branch of police which is preparing lists of religious schools, their accounts and other related matters, including the strength of students in these institutions.
Experienced police officers had also been transferred to the cell, sources in the government said, adding that about another six offices of the Lashkar-i-Taiba and Jaish-i-Mohammed had been sealed in the past 48 hours.
The offices are situated in Buffer Zone, North Karachi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Landhi, Saeedabad and Soldier Bazaar.
Police thoroughly searched the sealed offices and took into custody the record of the offices. Police have been deployed outside the sealed offices.
A police party raided a religious school in Gulistan-i-Jauhar and picked up two teachers of the school. They were shifted to an undisclosed place.
Another raid was conducted on a religious school situated near Nagan Chowrangi in North Karachi. No arrest was, however, reported.—PPI
