HYDERABAD, Dec 20: The chief engineer of Sukkur Barrage announced here on Saturday that all the canals of Sukkur Barrage command area will remain closed from Jan 6 to 20, 2004, both days inclusive for the purpose of normal inspection, maintenance and necessary repairs of infrastructure.

From Jan 6 to 20, there will be no flow of water in NW canal, Dadu canal, Rohri canal, K.F. West, K.F. East and Nara canal of the Sukkur Barrage.

PROTEST: The Sindh Agriculture University Teachers’ Association has resolved to observe a token strike on Dec 22 to protest against the holding of a meeting of the university selection board that day.
