Frontier Cup from Jan 8

PESHAWAR, Dec 31: Eight Frontier Cup Snooker, an annual feature of the NWFP calender, will be starting from Jan 8, next at indoor hall of the Green Snooker Club here. The final will be played Jan 15.

This was disclosed by Syed Aqil Shah while addressing a press conference here Monday.

Shah, who is also the president of NWFP Snooker and Billiard Association, said that this time the tournament would be more attractive with a bigger prize money. Along with the prize money, the fee of the technical officials has been increased, he said.

Shah, the secretary general of NWFP Olympic Association and associate secretary of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), disclosed that players from around the province like Malakand, Hazara, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Mardan, Nowshera, and host Peshawar will be taking part.

He said the preparations for the holding the tournament in a befitting manner, have been made and all the out-stationed players would be provided all sort of facilities.

Shah also expressed his satisfaction over the activities of snooker association and specially secretary Zulfiqar Butt, a former international snooker player.

He said that the NWFP has great talent and that was the reason, the players of NWFP are among top five in the World. Arshad Siddique of Peshawar will defend his title. Last year he defeated Bilal of Abbottabad in the final.—APP
