ISLAMABAD, Dec 31: The Capital Development Authority has clarified a news item published in Dawn on December 22, titled “CDA official suspended for disobeying AMT”, and said the official was suspended by a committee, of which the AMT official was a member.

Clarifying the position, he said a major of Mujahid Battalion, whose family was living in Muslim Colony Kutcha Abadi, had applied for allotment of a plot at Alipur Farash. The case was referred to Kutcha Abadi Cell (KAC) for consideration by the CDA Board to the steering committee of Kutcha Abadis.

Some 10 to 12 identical cases were also outlined by a KAC deputy director that could be taken up by the CDA Board or the steering committee for allotment of alternative plots at Alipur Farash, the spokesman said.

He said a meeting had been convened by the CDA’s deputy director general (planning) on December 12, that was participated by director (urban planning), Major Abdus Sattar of the army monitoring team and the KAC deputy director. It was revealed in the meeting that the KAC deputy director had not prepared the case of the Mujahid Battalion’s major, besides, 10 to 12 other identical cases as earlier intimated by him.

The spokesman said, since the KAC official, despite a lapse of two months, had failed to put up the cases, his suspension orders were issued.

Regarding inclusion of names of over 50 ineligible persons in the list on the AMT instructions, as reported in the news item, the spokesman said the information was completely baseless, as no such instructions were issued by the AMT to the CDA.

However, Dawn stands by its story.
