LAHORE, Dec 31: The Punjab health department has started preparations according to the ‘war book’ to meet any major emergency in the wake of current Pakistan-India situation.
The department has started collecting information regarding infrastructure and manpower from all executive district officers (EDOs) and the chief executives of the autonomous hospitals.
The department has sought information regarding the number of ambulances, functional and non-functional, number of beds available and how many beds could be spared in case of emergency.
It also sought information about the number of operation theatres and tables. It also asked the officials concerned to state that how many mobile teams could be constituted and how many emergency posts could be established.
The health department has also demanded the lists of anaesthetists, anaesthesia machines, surgeons, medical officers, woman medical officers and staff nurses.
DIRECTIVE: The department has directed the officers concerned to ensure that all staff should perform their duties diligently.
TREATMENT CENTRES: The department finalized the Rs200 million plan to establish new treatment centres at four selected tehsil headquarters hospitals at Deepalpur, Arifwala, Jaranwala and Rajanpur as a part of upgradation plan.
The plan will be executed throughout the province with the assistance of donor agencies.
A department meeting chaired by Punjab Health Minister Prof Mahmood Ahmad Chaudhry approved that each centre would have two operation theatres, five-bed ICUs and a link passage with the existing infrastructure of THQ hospitals.
