QUETTA, Dec 8: The Vice President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Sardar Mohammad Ali Jogezai has deplored the moves by a group to replace the FPCCI president Raiz Tata before completing his two-year term.

“It is not fair to remove an elected president of the apex body against his will,” he said while talking to Dawn here on Monday.

He said that Raiz Tata was elected for two years with the vote of the elected members executive committee who were representing various chambers of commerce bodies and associations.

“There should be no changes in the leadership of apex body on the basis of likes and dislikes,” Sardar Jogezai said and added that such decision against the elected president would make the FPCCI “laughing stock”.

The Vice President of the FPCCI and former Provincial Minister for Industry Balochistan, said that the group talking about the premature removal of an elected president should give a second thought to its moves and allow the elected body to complete its two years term which would end in 2004.

However, he said that if Raiz Tata was ready to step down then new president should be elected through election. “Selection or imposing of new man would not be accepted as it would be against the democratic norms,” Sardar Jogezai said.

He said the elected MC members should be allowed to work for the betterment of the business community and life members.
