KARACHI, Dec 4: Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour and leader of the Businessmen Forum in the FPCCI on Thursday assured that all commitments made for bringing mid-term changes at the top slot of the apex body would be fulfilled.
He assured the members of the business community that the promises made by his group would be honoured at all cost.
Mr Bilour dispelled the impression that there was some rift in the rank and file of his group members and said that Sheikh Jamil Mehboob Magoon has not left the group.
He further said that his group was united and all the top leadership was intact and they would demonstrate their majority and unity at appropriate time.
He said that the incumbent president of the FPCCI, Riaz Ahmed Tata, is a honourable member of the group and his services for FPCCI are laudable.
Meanwhile, Maqsood Ismail the candidate selected by the Businessmen Forum to hold the top slot of the FPCCI during second year seems to be apprehensive about the situation.
“The recent news reports appearing in a section of the press are quite disturbing and one could not say what would finally be materialized,” he said.
After last year’s election both the Businessmen Forum led by Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour and Businessmen Panel headed by Tariq Sayeed reached an agreement over power-sharing in the apex body of trade and industry.
As a result of this understanding it was agreed that the presidentship should be given
to Businessmen Forum and the position of vice president be handed over to the other group.
In order to keep their groups intact both the sides have to select two candidates for each slot and under internal arrangement the Businessmen Forum asked Riaz Ahmed Tata to hold the presidential post for first year and hand it over to Maqsood Ismail in second term.
