KARACHI, Dec 31: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday urged the government that the date of various SROs, expiring now, be extended up to June 30, 2002 to ensure relief and regularization of sales tax payment.

The KCCI president in a letter to the CBR stated that SROs 392 to 395, dated June 18, 2001, envisaging relief and regularization of sales tax expired on Monday (Dec 31, 2001) but, he argued, the sales tax payers could not avail the opportunity due to lack of publicity and a variety of other factors.—APP
