Workshop on Islamic investment

KARACHI, Dec 1: The Bahrain Monetary Agency and HSBC Amanah Finance are organizing a workshop on “The Evolving of World of Islamic Investments.”

This event would be held on December 6 at a hotel in Manama, says a press release faxed to Dawn from BMA.

BMA Deputy Governor HE Khalid Abdulla Al Bassam will deliver the welcome address. About 11 top officials from central banks and top management executives from Islamic financial institutions and Awqaf funds are set to attend the workshop. The workshop is aimed at presenting to institutional investors the various opportunities for investment and the different asset allocation strategies.

Top executives from HSBC offices in London, New York and Hong Kong as well as HSBC Amanah Finance in Dubai and First Islamic Investment Bank in Bahrain will present papers. They will speak on such issues as the growing relevance of Islamic finance, the macroeconomic world outlook, equity as an asset class, the evolving world of sukuk or Islamic bonds, the potential for Shari’a trust services and private equity opportunities.

The workshop coincides with the meeting of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) Council being held in Bahrain the same day (December 6) and the 10th World Islamic Banking Conference on December 7-8.
