KARACHI: Woman dies of burns

KARACHI, Nov 30: A young woman died of burns in Kalri on Sunday. Police said that Zubaida, 25, suffered burns while working in the kitchen of her house in Kalri. She was taken to the Civil Hospital where she died during treatment.

BURNS: Three persons suffered serious burns in two separate incidents in different parts of the city on Sunday.

Police said that two friends suffered burns when they lit up a match to check the water level in an underground water tank in Punjab Colony, in Defence area.

Police said that Mohammad Ali suffered 40 per cent burns while his visiting friend, Feroz, a tailor master, suffered 90 per cent burns in the incident.

A fire officer said that entrapped gases in the underground tank caused the fire. Both the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital where they were admitted for treatment.

In another incident, in Defence Phase-V, a middle-aged man suffered 80 per cent burns while making tea in his apartment on Sunday.

Police said that Mohammad Firoz, 40, lit up a match in his kitchen and a fire broke out due to gas leak. The injured was taken to the CHK where he was admitted for treatment at the burns ward.

Hospital sources said the victim suffered 80 per cent burns in the incident.
