LOS ANGELES, Nov 29: The Washington Times has retracted a report printed on Sept 15, accusing an Islamic charity of links to the Al-Qaeda network and has apologized.

The retraction on Nov 24 was considered a major victory for the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, an Oregon-based non-profit charity. Many Islamic charities have been accused in the US of funding terrorism following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Said a press statement from the charity: “Al-Haramain welcomes the retraction and apology by the Washington Times published on Page 3 of its Nov. 24 issue and on its web edition,”
