Fine spells by Imran, Victor

KARACHI, Nov 19: Fine spin bowling by Imran Bashir and Victor Sebestain, enabled the KGA Gymkhana qualify for the semifinal of the First Ramazan Super Cup beating M.Z. Khan CC by five wickets.

M.Z. Khan CC were off to a flying start when Hasan Arshad (41) and Sharjil Ashraf (20), put on 50 runs for the first wicket in only seven overs.

But with the introduction of right-arm legspinner Imran Bashir four for 18 and left-arm Victor Sebestain three for 28, the last nine wickets crashed out for 79 to be dismissed for 129.

Needing 130 for victory KGA reached the target for the loss of five wickets with Hilary Rodrigues remaining not out with 46 runs, Freddy Decruze (31) and Rajesh Ramesh (20) making sure of victory.

Thursday’s fixture: Rafiq Sherazi CC v Azeem Sports (quarterfinal) 1.15 p.m.

Pak Gym win

A superb unbeaten 76 studded with 12 boundaries by Atta-ur-Rehman helped Pak Gymkhana register a crushing 10-wicket victory over Baqai Dolphins and enter the semifinal in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Festival cricket played on Wednesday.

Baqai Dolphins reached 113 for the loss of nine wickets. Imranullah top scored with 36.

Tufail Ahmed was easily the pick of the Pak Gymkhana attack, claiming five wickets for 21 runs.

With Atta in fine fettle with the willow and M. Gazan weighing in with and unbeaten knock of 38 runs, Pak Gymkhana raced to victory while reaching 116 without loss.
