LAHORE, Nov 10: The city district police officer on Monday directed police investigators to ensure their presence at the crime scene immediate after the incident.
The DPO issued the instruction while presiding over a meeting of the police investigation wing.
He said the quick arrival at the scene would help investigators preserve foot and finger prints besides collecting other evidence. “It would certainly lead to an early detection of crime and apprehension of culprits”, he said.
The practice, he said, would also bring down the number of complaints regarding slow investigation and applications for the change of investigation.
The DPO said experienced and seasoned supervisory officers had been posted in the investigation wing in order to get the desired results.
Officers had been asked to make all out efforts for the redressal of the grievances of complainants and ensure timely disposal of investigation cases in their jurisdiction. He said they had also been directed to remain in touch with the aggrieved persons for keeping them aware of the progress on their cases.
The DPO told the meeting that he himself would shortly hold circle-wise meetings to assess the individual performance of officers of the investigation wing. “Those delivering results will be rewarded and negligent be punished”, he said.
Besides others, the police investigation wing chief and that of the operation’s attended the meeting and discussed various aspects of the progress on important cases.
