LONDON, Dec 28: Britain’s FTSE 100 stock index rose for the fourth consecutive session to a three-week closing high on Saturday as an Opec move to cut output lifted oil shares and a firm Wall Street supported sentiment.

The benchmark index ended up 29.2 points or 0.56 per cent at 5,242.4, just off a peak of 5,243.7 — its highest intraday level since December 10. Despite the gains, the index was down 16 per cent this year.—Reuters
