KARACHI, Oct 27: Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has issued directives for immediate finalization of short and long term plans pertaining to an improvement in medical facilities at the Civil Hospital Karachi.
He was presiding over a meeting which was held to discuss health sector issues. The meeting was attended by Advisors to Chief Minister Noman Saigal and Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, provincial secretary Ashique Hussain Memon and Ghulam Nabi Shah, Additional Advocate General Kazi Khalid and other officials.
The governor directed them to ensure an early completion of the ground work for the upgradation of the Dow Medical College to a university. He asked the health secretary to ensure enforcement of standards established for the public sector hospitals and monitoring of cleanliness as well as staff’s attendance at basic health centres in the province.
Mr Saigal told the meeting that an integrated programme was being executed to identify ‘ghost employees’ in the health department and to take action against them.
SM COLLEGE: The governor has agreed in principle to the proposal that the S. M. Law College be upgraded to university and issued directives that the process be expedited.
He was talking to the members of the governing board of the college who called on him at Governor House here on Monday.
Dr Ibad noted that the college possessed a distinguished position in law education and that renowned lawyers had passed out from it and served in different positions at local and international levels.—PPI
