KARACHI, Oct 26: Police on Sunday claimed to have recovered the official vehicle of a provincial minister from Gadap Town.
The official car was hijacked at gunpoint from Boat Basin, last Friday night.
The police said that the car (GS-7165) belonging to the minister for religious affairs, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, was recovered by the police after an alleged exchange of fire with unidentified armed men at the Super Highway.
The police claimed that the armed men escaped following the shootout with the police, leaving the car behind.
ACCIDENTS: Three persons, including two young boys, died in separate traffic accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday.
Police said that Mir Murtaza, 10, was plying outside his house when he was knocked down by a truck. The truck driver escaped from the spot following the incident, the police added.
The victim died when he was being taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
In another accident, a young boy, Israr, 10, was knocked down by an unknown speeding vehicle near P & T Society gate in Korangi.
The victim was rushed to the JPMC by his father, where he died during treatment, the police said.
DIES: A young man died and his associate was injured in a road accident at the ICI Bridge.
Police said that Rahim and Ashfaq were riding motorcycle when it slipped at the ICI bridge.
As a result, Rahim died on the spot due to head injuries, while Ashfaq was admitted for treatment at the Civil Hospital.
DROWNED: A young man drowned in the sea on Sunday.
Police said that young man, Ghous-i-Azam, 24, drowned in the sea while taking bath.
Later in the day his body was washed ashore, which the police shifted to the JPMC.
The police said that the youth was a resident of North Karachi and had went to the beach for picnic.
CRUSHED: A young man died after being crushed by a locomotive near Malir Halt on Sunday.
Police said that Liaquat Ali, 24, hailing from Larkana, was crossing over the rail tracks when he was crushed beneath a train.
His body was shifted to the JPMC for the post-mortem examination.
