HYDERABAD, Oct 22: A meeting was held at the Shahbaz Hall here on Wednesday constituted committees for each taluka of the district to maintain the sanctity of Ramazan and control prices during the month.
The committees, headed by taluka Nazims and deputy district officer, revenue, taluka police officers and taluka municipal officers concerned being its members, will ensure implementation of the Ehteram-i-Ramazanul Mubarak Ordinance.
District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman presided over the meeting.
A District Price Fixation Committee, with the EDO, revenue, Shakeel Haider Naqvi, as its chairman and representatives from all trade associations of the city, was also formed to fix prices of essential commodities, including meat, vegetables, flour and fruits, and to send the price lists to TMAs for implementation.
The trade associations were also directed to declare their stocks in godowns before the start of Ramazan to meet the shortage of any commodity.
Speaking at the meeting, the district Nazim directed food department officers to check the standard of wheat and warned that action would be taken against those who failed to act on the directive.
He also directed Atta Chakki Association president Nawab Ali to report to him if any sub-standard wheat was supplied to mills.
He said after the prices were fixed by the committee, the list would be sent to each Taluka Price Control Committee which would be responsible for its implementation.
Dr Rafiquzzaman said members of taluka committees and judicial magistrates would take on the spot action against violators.
He asked shopkeepers, retailers and pushcart owners to display the price list of their items.
DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed told the meeting the Sindh government was considering to provide judicial powers to DDOs, revenue, so that they could implement the Ramazan ordinance.
RESULT: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh has announced the result of regular candidates of Institute of Scientific Management (ISM) Karachi of the MCIT final examination of 2001 of first batch.
The controller also announced the result of MSc (previous), MSc (final), MCom (final) postgraduate college side annual examination of 2002.
According to the MCom (final) result, Mazhar Hussain Naqvi, son of Nazir Hussain Naqvi, has secured the first position while Mohammad Arshad Chandrigar, son of Moula Bux Chandrigar, and Mohammad Tahir, son of Abdul Ghafar, have secured second and third positions, respectively.
LUMHS: The controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences has announced the schedule of postgraduate courses examination.
According to the schedule MS/MD final examination and DGO and DO will be held on Oct 27, 28 and 30, at the PG section LUMHS diploma examinations on Oct 27 and 28, and basic medical science paper of degree course on Oct 30 at the New Lecture Hall. The candidates have been advised to collect admit slips from examination department, LUMHS on Oct 25.
