ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: Former MNA Dr Israr Shah on Sunday urged the government to recover the money of innocent people looted by fake private cooperative housing societies in the capital.

Speaking at a press conference held at a local hotel, Dr Shah said all office-bearers of societies involved in irregularities should be suspended and impartial administrators appointed to run these according to the rules and regulations.

He asked the government to confiscate passports of the office-bearers and check their assets.

Dr Shah warned the government that if the looted wealth of innocent people was not recovered, he would ask the MNAs to raise the issue in National Assembly.

After 9/11 incidents, most of Pakistanis in the US had remitted money to their country and taking advantage of this flow of foreign exchange, property dealers in Islamabad created artificial price hike, he said.

He claimed that most of the overseas Pakistanis had purchased land in private cooperative housing societies in the capital.
