VEHARI, Sept 27: Mepco officials have issued power supply disconnection notices to most consumers of Vehari circle after issuing them inflated bills.

A large number of consumers told this correspondent at the newly-established customer service centre on Saturday that Mepco officials had added at least 300 units more than the meter reading to their bills.

Some consumers of Faisal Town II subdivision said they received bills with at least 500 units more than the meter reading.

Abdul Hammad said his actual meter reading was 12,824 for the month of August while he received an electricity bill of 13,776 units.

He said that he had been visiting the customer service centre since Aug 28 for correction of bill, but in vain.

He was issued a power supply disconnection notice on Sept 18 for not paying the August bill which was against the Mepco rules.

Muhammad Munir of union council No 1 said he was also facing the same situation.

SDO Faisal Town II Siddiq Shahid denied the charge that inflated bills had been sent to consumers. The consumers have appealed the Wapda high-ups to solve their problems.
