KARACHI, Sept 27: The adviser to chief minister for local government, Wasim Akhtar, has asked the local government officers to use their powers keeping in view the limits set under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance for them.

He was addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of a six-day training workshop, which was attended by 57 participants including TMOs, local government officers, DDOs Coordination from nine different districts of Sindh.

The participants were told that district and provincial governments were responsible to provide basic facilities to the masses and protection to their lives and properties.

Mr Akhtar expressed hope that the officers, who attended the workshop, would discharge their duties under Section-IV of SLGO. He praised the National Institute of Public Administration and the provincial transition wing for organizing the workshop and said that the workshop helped officers in understanding local government system.

He said that the local government system was an effective and successful system and its implementation with understanding would ensure welfare of the masses.

The adviser congratulated the participants and hoped that they would utilize their powers in their respective areas to provide basic facilities to the masses.

The joint chief of provincial transition wing, Maroof Lakho, Nazeer Ahmed Qureshi and others also spoke on the occasion. —PPI
