PESHAWAR, Sept 27: Political circles here on Saturday termed the passing away of veteran politician Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan an end to a long resistance against civil and military dictators in Pakistan.
Veteran politician and founder of the Awami of Awami National Party, Khan Abdul Wali Khan, has condoled the death of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan.
In a statement issued from Wali Bagh, Charsadda, the ANP leader said Nawabzada sahib’s services for democracy would be remembered for a long time. Nawabzada sahib, he added, had left indelible effects on the body politics of the country.
Wali Khan prayed that may God bless the departed soul.
Shahzada Mohammad Gastasip Khan, opposition leader in the NWFP assembly, euologized the Nawabzada’s contribution for democracy, saying he was a true democrat, who remained loyal to his political ideals till his last breath.
He said that Nawabzada Nasrullah symbolized steadfastness and optimism for the country’s political forces, adding that he was the last of the political breed, which relied upon the might of the people for a democratic struggle, he added.
In a condolence statement, Haji Mohammad Adeel, vice- president of the Awami National Party, paid a rich tribute to his services for a democratic system in the country, saying he (the Nawabzada) had been the main spirit behind all democratic movements against civilian and military dictators.
Praising the late veteran politician, he was amongst politicians adept at unifying diverse and hostile political forces, Mr Adeel added.
Provincial chief of the PPP Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, in his condolence message, said that the Nawabzada was a symbol of political resistance, challenging dictators and never opting for a compromise on principles.
In a statement, Pakistan Muslim League-N’s provincial chief Pir Sabir Shah condoled the death of the veteran politician, terming it a great loss for the democratic forces.
The Khyber Union of Journalists has also offered its condolences over his death and lauded his services for a democratic order in the country.
