LARKANA, Sept 26: A large number of power consumers, hailing from Jara Wahacha, on Thursday blocked the Indus Highway, near Janibund, Nasirabad Taluka, by erecting barricades as they were protesting against Hesco officials for disconnecting the power supply to their village.

The villagers led by Aftab Wahocho and Dr Hizbullah Wahocoh blocked the Indus Highway by burning tyres and putting tree trunks.

They were chanting slogans against Hesco officials who had removed the transformer of the village one and a half month ago on the excuse that villagers were not paying their bills.

They said that even though the majority of the power consumers regularly paid their bills, Hesco officials had dismounted the transformer.

The traffic on the Larkana-Dadu section of the Indus Highway remained suspended for three hours as a result of the protest.

INQUIRY COMMITTEE: The executive district officer, Health, Larkana, Dr Abdul Wahab Wadho has constituted a two-member inquiry committee in response to a letter from the Health Department regarding complaints of malpractice by the consultants of the Chandka Medical College Larkana.

The committee comprises the district officer, Health (administration and accounts), Dr Khalil Katpar, and the medical superintendent, Taluka hospital Qambar, Dr Saifullah Abbasi.
