ISLAMABAD, Sep 26: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and PML President Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain on Friday discussed problems created by a hasty unification of different factions of the Pakistan Muslim League.
An official announcement said that Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain met the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s House and discussed with him organizational matters of the PML.
The unification of all PML factions minus Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) was announced at the Prime Minister House last week and when the factional leaders were failed, the president had reportedly intervened to ensure smooth unification of all factions of the PML.
At the time of the unificaiton, it was announced that except for the post of the President of the PML retained by Chaudhry Shjuaat Hussain, all other posts of all factions had been abolished.
Since then intense lobbying has been going for the post of Secretary of the party as Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad is one of the aspirants for the powerful post.
Former NA Speaker Gohar Ayub Khan is also reportedly in the run.
The prime minister during his meeting with Chaudhry Shujaat, appreciated efforts of the latter for the PML unification.
He said this development would lead to greater political stability and cohesion in the country.
The prime minister said that Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, being the President of the PML, had a great responsibility on his shoulders “which he is surely capable of handling ably and efficiently.”
The progress of talks with the Opposition and the constitutional package was also discussed during the meeting.
