KARACHI, Dec 22: Ehteshamuddin Haider, elder brother of Interior Minister Moinuddin Haider, was laid to rest at the Sakhi Hasan graveyard on Saturday evening.

His funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid, North Nazimabad.

The funeral was largely attended by top officials of the Sindh government corps commander, leaders of political parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League (both factions), Muttahida Quami Movement and others.

CONDOLENCE: Various political parties and social bodies have condemned the murder of Ehteshamuddin Hyder and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

In a statement from London, the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, said that the murder was well-orchestrated and was designed by a powerful agency in collusion with its extremist terrorist-outfit.

He added that the cowardly act was a warning from this powerful agency and its religious outfits to the present military government, the US and its allies of worse to follow.

Mr Altaf linked the assassination with the statements given by the interior minister, the President and other government officials against the extremist Jehadi groups.

Pakistan Medical Association Karachi has also condemned the murder and said the deceased was a great help to the poor and needy patients, said a press release of the association.

Dr Abdul Mujeeb, head of Blood Transfusion Services in JPMC, while extending condolence on the tragic death of Ehteshamuddin, said his contribution to quality screening for safe blood could not be forgotten.

Provincial ministers Deewan Mohammed Yusuf Farooqi, Ahsan Ahmed, and Maulana Wali Razi have condemned the murder of Ehteshamuddin Haider.

In their separate condolence messages, they prayed to Almighty Allah to place the departed soul in eternal peace and grant strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Maulana Razi termed the attack a cowardly attempt by anti-Pakistan elements.
