KARACHI: City council adjourned

KARACHI, Sept 23: The city council adjourned its session on Tuesday and adopted condolence resolutions and offered Fateha for late Rabia Soomro.

Soon after the commencement of the proceedings, some members drew attention of the convener of the house, Tariq Hasan, towards the death of their colleague Rabia Soomro.

The members unanimously demanded that the business of the day be adjourned as it was the tradition of the house.

The convener responded with affirmation and asked the members if they would like to move condolence resolutions for the deceased.

The condolence resolutions were presented by many members including Muslim Pervez, Saeed Ghani, Abdul Razzak Siddique, Jaffer-ul-Hassan.

Those who spoke included Saeed Ghani, Siddique Rathore, Shamim Mumtaz, Jaffer-ul-Hassan, Mehran-un-Nisa, Mehfooz-el-Nabi and other women members of the council.

They paid tributes to late Rabia Soomro for her services to the cause of democracy.

Rabia Soomro was widow of ex-minister Ahmed Ali Soomro, and before becoming a member of the city council she was an active activist of the PPP.

The next session of the council is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 25.— PPI
