FAISALABAD, Sept 20: Governor Khalid Maqbool has claimed that the formal work on the Faisalabad-Sheikhupura dual carriageway project will be started soon.
He was speaking at a meeting held at the Circuit House here on Saturday.
The governor said the Sheikhupura Road and the Lahore-Kasur Road would be completed on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
He said differences between the government and the contractor and technical problems were the main hurdles in the launch of the two projects. However, they have been sorted out and work on the projects would begin soon, he added.
He said special boards were being constituted comprising people’s representatives and the government officials to check the working of the federal government departments and agencies and to resolve the people’s problems.
Governor Maqbool stressed upon the federal government agencies to make policies for the redressal of grievances of the people at their doorstep instead of creating hurdles in the name of procedural formalities.
He said on the instructions of the federal government, visits were being paid to the federal government offices to minutely check the performance of functionaries and to ensure services rendered to the public.
He said after visiting various cities of the province, he would submit a comprehensive report to the federal government to simplify the procedural formalities of the utility services providing agencies.
He said that the federal government would also be moved to enhance the loan for the women entrepreneurs from Rs25,000 to Rs100,000 and to expand its scope for small traders. Similarly, he added, the government would be asked to provide loan for livestock.
He said the federal government would also be asked to provide relief to Wapda consumers and supply gas to Millat Town and Kalim Shaheed Park areas of Faisalabad, villages along the Rakh Branch Canal, Pir Mahal, Kamalia and Tandlianwala.
He directed the FESCO officials to ensure maximum relief to the consumers as it was earning huge income annually.
