KARACHI, Sept 19: The All Pakistan Tax Bar Association (APTBA) has urged the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to withdraw the condition of keeping books of account for the year 2003.

In a statement issued on Friday, the general secretary APTBA has also pointed out that salaried class who is declaring taxable salary up to Rs200,000 are exempted from filing the wealth statement whereas on the other hand the Central Board of Revenue has made compulsory submission of wealth statement for other classes of taxpayers.

He asked the CBR to remove the discrimination and exempt from filing the wealth statement to every taxpayer who is going to declare taxable income up to Rs200,000.

He further said that there was a fear amongst the business community that in the absence of any criteria for selection of cases for total audit under the USAS the taxpayers would be left at the mercy of assessing officers.
