All set to host royal guests

BAHAWALPUR, Dec 21: Arrangements to host royal families from the Middle East have been finalized.

The districts of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan will host the amir and princes of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. Eighteen places have been identified for the purpose of hunting during the current winter season.

The administrations of these district will provide security and other necessary assistance to the royal families who are behind schedule this year due to American attack on Afghanistan. Normally, they visit Pakistan in November every year.

BUNGLING: A MEPCO inquiry team has detected 32 cases of embezzlement of electricity meters, tampering with meter and corruption by its filed staff, including meter readers, in the Wapda sub-division Khairpur Tamewali.

The inquiry was initiated on a number of complaints by the consumers to the MEPCO high-ups.

Action against the corrupt officials will be taken after the submission of inquiry report, it is learnt.

DEMOCRACY: Nawaz League former MPA Chaudhry Samiullah has demanded revival of the democratic institutions, which, he said, were essential to steer the country out of present crisis.

Addressing a function held in his honour, he criticized the Afghan policy and expressed concern over the new wave of price hike in the country.

CAR THEFT: The car of Bahawalpur Anjuman-i-Arhtian vice-president Malik Amir Ayyaz was taken away from outside the office of excise and taxation.

Cantonment police have registered a case.

Astro-turf: Astro-turf will be laid in the Bahawalpur Hockey Stadium next year.

This was stated by Bahawalpur GOC Maj-Gen Muhammad Tahir while talking to a delegation comprising former Olympians Mutiullah and Samiullah.

The hockey stars of yesteryear told the GOC that they intended to open an academy to find new talent and train them.
