LONDON, Sept 12: The Griqua Diamonds squad has been boosted by the signing of exciting 23-year-old Pakistan all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, for the 2003-04 domestic cricket season.

Afridi who flies into Kimberley on Oct 9, joins opening batsman Greg Smith (SA Schools, SA U-19 World Cup team and Gauteng B), batting all-rounder Benji Hector (Natal Schools, Boland) and bowling all-rounder Mandla Mashimbyi (Northerns Titans B), as the Diamonds’ new players for the coming season.—PPI
