MULTAN, Sept 7: The PCB said on Sunday that it won’t appeal against the ban imposed on national captain Rashid Latif, who was found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute during the last Test against Bangladesh here.
A PCB spokesman said that the cricket board will not challenge the decision taken by ICC Match Referee Mike Procter of South Africa to ban Rashid for five One-day Internationals.
“After taking stock of the whole situation concerning Rashid, the PCB has decided not appeal against the five-game ODI ban imposed by the match referee,” the spokesman told reporters.
“In the best interest of Pakistan cricket in particular, the Pakistan PCB has opted to refrain from taking up this issue with the ICC”.
The PCB spokesman also made it clear that Rashid will also not protest his innocence.
“I can confirm that the Pakistan captain will not be appealing against the ban imposed on him for his involvement in the incident,” the spokesman clarified.
