ISLAMABAD, Sept 5: The capital territory police arrested three persons on the charge of manufacturing spurious soft drinks, a police spokesman said on Friday.
SHO Tarnol Inspector Mohammad Lasi received information that a bottling plant in Jhangi Syedan was manufacturing spurious soft drinks. Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid on the factory and seized 660 crates and 7,920 bottles. Three persons identified as Mohammad Rafiq, Riaz Baig and Mohammad Khalid were also arrested.
During investigations the accused told the police that the factory was owned by an official at the defence ministry. The police have started searching for the official.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi traffic police have arrested 3,760 people on the charge of reckless driving during the last month, DSP traffic Malik Matloob said in a press briefing on Friday.
The DSP said superintendent of traffic police Sabir Ahmed had started a campaign against motorcycle riders who drove recklessly and were involved in betting on races and wheeling.
The campaign started on August 11 and ended on the 31st.
The police have set up checkposts on Murree Road, Peshawar Road and other roads of Rawalpindi.
During the campaign, the police arrested 3,760 riders. As many as 704 drivers were detained with their motorcycles in different police stations while 3,056 drivers booked.
