PESHAWAR, Aug 31: A senior NGO worker has accused a former federal mister of occupying her house in the University Town area illegally, stealing money, jewellry and expensive items worth Rs seven million at the time when she was on a visit to United States.
Nazli Sardar, advocate and executive officer of the local NGO, Delta, called newsmen on Sunday showing her house in the University Town allegedly ransacked by Malik Waris Khan, a Pakistan People’s Party leader from Bara and former federal minister along with his two sons Malik Abid and Malik Zafar.
Ms Nazli said on last Sunday night Malik Waris and his two sons entered her residence and beat up her servants and forced them to escape and took away three cars, when she was in the US along with his son to see her sister there.
“I was informed by the neighbours about the illegal occupation and I immediately approached the police to get back her house from the usurpers,” she said.
The next day police went to the house and despite their resistance, they took the possession, she said. At that time Malik Waris, Ayub Shah, a former MPA and leader of PPP and another PPP leader Najmuddin were drunk and present in her house, she alleged.
“The police handed over my residence two days ago, but Malik Waris had taken away $10,000, Rs400,000, 260 tolas of gold ornaments and expensive paintings and other house-old items,” she claimed by showing the broken lockers and almirahs locks.
Malik Waris claimed to have a property dispute with her step- mother Shamim Sardar, Nazli Sardar claimed.
“In May, 2003, I got an stay order from the court of law as I was feeling insecure while living with my sisters and a son,” she said. She maintained that the police also recovered her three cars and one of them was in use of another PPP leader and town nazim.
She had registered an FIR with the University Town police station charging Malik Waris of carlifting, abducting her servants and robbery, she claimed. But the police, when contacted, disputed the claim of Nazli Sardar and said that both the parties had property dispute and the issue would be solved through negotiations, not through the arrest of senior PPP leaders despite registration of the FIR.
