KARACHI, Aug 30: Under city government’s Taleemul Quran course, meant for 26,000 government school teachers, 400 teachers were awarded certificates at a ceremony.

The objective of the course is to enable teachers to teach the holy book with correct pronunciation.

The first leg of the course, consisting of three-month training, got completed on Saturday, during which four hundred teachers including 350 lady teachers were imparted the training.

The course was a joint venture of city government and Jamiat Taleemul Quran Trust.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while speaking at the ceremony said that city government’s effort was facing a setback due to paucity of trained teachers.

He maintained that the course was a part of the city government’s efforts to promote the concept of providing religious and other education under one roof.

He said it was teachers’ responsibility to build a nation which they should realize.

EDO Education Anwar Ahmed Zai said that it was necessary to arrange this course to train the teachers so that they could impart religious education in a better way.

General secretary of the trust, Mohammad Rafi, claimed that about 100,000 students had been trained in the trust for the last 32 years.—PPI
