KARACHI, Aug 29: The secretary general of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that the MMA is striving for the supremacy of the Constitution and to block army’s interference in politics.
He was addressing the conference on “Islamic Educational System” at Sohrab goth on Thursday night under the auspices of Jamiat Talba-i-Islam. He flayed the government policies, which had multiplied miseries of the masses.
He said that no individual had the right to amend the constitution and the MMA would never compromise on its principled stand, because conceding the right of an individual to amend the Constitution was fraught with threat to the solidarity of the country.
Talking about the foreign policy, the MMA leader said that earlier only the eastern borders of Pakistan were insecure, but at present the western borders too had become unsafe. This was due to pursuance of the US directives, which resulted in an end to the Taliban government in Kabul, he said. Had there been Taliban government, the issue of Durand line did not arise, he added.
Mr Rehman said that the country was being ruled not by the consent of rulers, but on the basis of force and coercion to wrap up democratic politics from the country.
