Kutcha area submerged after 7 years

SUKKUR, July 20: Seventy five per cent of Kutcha area of the Guddu and Sukkur barrages was inundated after seven years of dry spell as 264,364 cusecs of water were passing through the Guddu barrage on Sunday evening.

The residents of the Kutcha area have begun leaving their houses for the river embankments and other safe places.

Several hundreds of the people were seen on the embankments with their household items.

They told journalists that it was a temporary disturbance and expressed hope for bumper crops in the Kutcha area.

The irrigation authorities declared emergency in Guddu.
