KARACHI, July 18: The Hawksbay Association of Trade and Industry (HATI) has drawn the attention of Federal Minister for Production and Industries Liquat Ali Jatoi towards inadequate infrastructure facilities in the area.

In a meeting held at the HATI office on Friday, its chairman Anwar Mian Noor said it was very unfortunate that the policy makers were not giving due attention to Hawksbay which was emerging as a mini-SITE industrial area.

In the absence of proper infrastructure facilities, he said, the business community was not setting up their industrial units.

He urged the government not to delay matters and immediately undertake the task of improving roads and providing other necessary facilities like water, gas and power.

Mohammed Hussain Khandwalla, vice chairman HATI, raised the issue of regularization of land and issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Board of Revenue (BoR).

He requested the BoR to issue NOC promptly to enable investors to get the required facilities from the development finance institutions (DFIs).

He said that HATI members who mostly belong to small and medium enterprises are also being harassed by official agencies, thereby, discouraging investment in the area.
