ISLAMABAD, July 15: Interior Minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat on Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of work on uplift projects being undertaken by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Speaking during a briefing by the CDA chairman, Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, and senior officials of the authority, he said the targets which he had given to the authority regarding completion of development project had not been met.
The minister said the government had planned several mega projects for the beautification of the capital. However, the CDA’s performance was not up to the mark.
The government, he said, had increased the allocation for the public sector development projects, which aimed at facilitating citizens.
The interior minister said all basic facilities would be provided to the common man at his doorsteps, therefore citizens should also cooperate with the government in the completion of development schemes. He also urged the Capital Development Authority to brief him regularly on the pace of work on such projects.
He expressed the hope that the CDA officials would not only motivate their workers for active participation in different projects, but also train the manpower for better output.
Mr Hayat also directed the authority to continue its ongoing anti-encroachment drive to make the capital more beautiful. He called for launching more projects to beautify the city, and to set up food malls, parks and gardens.
The minister directed the CDA to plant quality grass alongside different avenues, and in green belts and main points of the city.
He ordered beautification of surrounding areas of motorway towards Islamabad to present a beautiful look to those coming to the capital.
