KARACHI, July 8: People dialling railway inquiry numbers to know the arrival and departure timings of trains have been facing severe problems as the railway inquiry numbers are not being attended.

The trains’ schedule has been disturbed due to rainfall in different parts of the province, and the trains have been arriving many hours late. Karakoram Express, scheduled to arrive in the morning, reached the city around 7pm. Due to the late arrival the scheduled departure timing— 4pm— was also disturbed.

The officials said almost all the trains had been arriving late due to rainfall.

People complained that they had been dialling the railway city inquiry 117 and the railway cantt inquiry 9206075-76, but either the numbers were busy or no one was attending the phone calls.

Sources in the Pakistan railways said the schedule had been disturbed and the number of incoming calls had increased, and the operators concerned were either not attending the calls or put the receiver aside, and the caller remained under the impression that the phone was busy.

Due to the non-responsive behaviour of the operators of the railway inquiry, many people came to the railway stations to know the arrival or departure timings of their desired trains. Some of them, having waited for long, went back to their homes and came again, and many had been waiting at the railway platforms at the city and cantt railway stations to receive expected arrivals.
