KARACHI, July 8: Four ships carrying rock phosphate, general cargo and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Cargo handling activity remained slow owing to Monday’s rain, which slows down the handling of dry cargo owing to rain water around the sheds and open space.

The total tonnage handled fell to 48,148 tons comprising 4,219 tons of export cargo and 43,929 tons of import tonnage, notably coal, scrap and general cargo.

Six ships, Lt. Grand, Orient Stride, Kota Wangi, Izumo to unload and load containers, Athina to unload fertilizer and Fairchem Vanguard, to offload tallow after the departure of three.

The ships, which departed included Ocean Luma, Bolan and Morning Glory, while Sibi, Izumo, Kota Wangi, Pearl of Jeddah, Alva Maersk, Fivos and Lt. Grand are due to sail out on Wednesday.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Hyundai Highway, Global Prosperity, with containers, Hyderabad, with 16,400 tons of rock phosphate and Sargodha, with general cargo.

KARACHI, July 8: A container ship, Contship Chempion, was allotted berths at QICT during the last 24 hours, according to a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two more ships carrying furnace oil and coal also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy remained below average as only three ships were busy in loading/ offloading containers, general cargo and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 31,613 tons comprising 21,413 tons of import and 10,200 tons of exports tonnage was handled.

Four ships, S.D. Nova, Al Wine Oldendroff, Gulf Success and Fuman were awaiting for berths at the outer anchorage.
