Shehryar, Riaz win Enterprise Class

KARACHI, June 27: Shehryar Arshad and Riaz Khan, silver medalists at the 14th Asian Games won the Enterprise National Sailing Championship for the fourth consecutive year winning their sixth race on the last day and accumulating a total of nil penalty points.

Having consolidated their hold in the championship once again, Shehryar and Riaz did not sail in their last race, as their last appearance had to be discarded which made no difference in their position perched on top.

This triumph makes the pair, holders of two national records in this class of sailing being to youngest ever team to hold the national title and the only pair to win this prestigious trophy for the fourth consecutive year.

A major upset however was witnessed in the second and third positions for which four boats were in contention.

Naseem and Hameed finished overall second with 31.1 penalty points pushing Anwar and Ashfaq into the third spot with 32.4 penalty points. KYC’s Saleem and Mehboob finished fourth overall, beating Arsalan and Adeel, who came fifth.

In the second category of sailing, wooden boats were used which was called the Silver Fleet.
