According to a spokesman of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, the KESC would carry out some repair work at the two sub-stations of KDA pumping station-1.
The KESC would carry out maintenance work at the sub-stations from 11am to 5pm during which there would be a power shutdown at the sub-station as well as Phase-II and III of Dhabeji pumping station, thus affecting water supply to the extent of 60mgd.
The KWSB announced that normal water supply would commence with the restoration of power to Phases II and III.
WATER METRES: The director of Orangi Pilot Project (OPP), Parveen Rahman, has called for allocating a measured quantum of water supply to the towns and union councils and installation of meters for each of them, as well as the consumers, to ensure an equitable water distribution and prevent disputes, adds APP.
She said that the water quota of Orangi Town has been fixed at 45 million gallons for every five days. However, she added, the town was being supplied only 10 million gallons for the period.
She suggested that water metres be installed for every households to gauge the supply and consumption.
She pointed out that every UC Nazim had been given an amount of Rs500,000 to improve water supply system in their jurisdictions.
The amount, she added, was being exhausted in laying of more pipelines and providing connections instead of checking leakages and water theft or improving the existing system.
