SIALKOT, June 23: National Assembly speaker Chaudhry Ameer Husain has asked the opposition to withdraw its no-confidence move or be ready to face defeat on June 28.

Talking to newsmen on Monday at Sambrial, the NA speaker said that he had complete confidence on members of parliament who would foil the opposition’s no-confidence move.

He said that a minority could not dictate a majority in a democratic setup and the no-trust move would be a backfire for opposition members who were sitting in parliament only because of the LFO.

“The people have a complete faith in the present political system and they believe that the opposition is creating political instability through its no-trust move instead of playing its democratic role in parliament”, he said.

The NA speaker said that president Pervez Musharraf was determined to do everything for upholding the prestige of the country and prosperity of the nation.

Meanwhile, the speaker also distributed cheques of Rs1.8 million as compensation money to the heirs of Sambrial dry port blast victims at a ceremony held at Sambrial.
