ISLAMABAD, June 20: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will continue its summer coaching classes for Senior Secondary Certificate students in model colleges.
This was stated by model colleges director Ms Samina while talking to Dawn. She said the special classes organized for 9th and 10th class would be completed as per schedule on July 8.
“We have 70 to 100 per cent attendance, both among boys and girls, and parents have expressed their satisfaction over the arrangement,” she said.
Ms Samina said Rs400 was being charged as tuition fee for providing one-month coaching, which, by no means, was unjustified as for the same level of coaching in private tuition centres, much higher amount was charged.
Since the directorate has engaged teachers on daily wages, the amount collected under the head of tuition fee will be used to pay their salaries, she said.
She maintained that, in certain special cases, the FDE had asked principals to wave tuition fee, and the latter were entertaining such applications without any discrimination.
If someone thinks that the directorate has arranged these classes to make money, it is ready for open audit, the director said.
