ISLAMABAD, June 18: The tax authorities collected Rs392.028 billion revenue during the July-May period of the current financial year against the target of Rs391.9 billion, showing an increase of Rs128 million.
Briefing reporters here on Wednesday Member direct taxes and CBR official spokesman Vakil Ahmad Khan said the revenue collection registered an increase of 14.1 per cent to Rs392.028 billion during 11 months of the current fiscal against Rs342.568 billion collected during the same period last fiscal.
He said the CBR collected Rs170.417 billion under the head of sales tax during July-May 2002-03 against Rs145.407 last fiscal, showing an increase of 17.2 per cent.
The revenue collection under the head of customs duty registered an increase of 52.1 per cent to Rs58.703 billion against Rs38.545 billion. The collection under the head of central excise duty (CED) stood at Rs40.123 billion against Rs40.407 billion of last year, showing a decline of 1.6 per cent.
The tax authorities collected Rs122.785 billion under the head of income tax during the period under review against Rs118.794 billion during the same period of last fiscal, showing an increase of 3.4 per cent.
