KARACHI, June 17: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has assured the people of Landhi that “terrorists” would not be allowed to make them hostage at gun-point.

He was speaking at a Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation function in Landhi in which assistance was provided to many needy of the area.

Mr Hussain said despite more than 11 years of “terrorism” of the Haqiqis, people of the area were still with him. He said that 1993, 1997 and 2002 elections were indicators of support for Muttahida among the people of the constituency.

He assured the people that Muttahida ministers had been directed to pay special attention to the development of the area which was neglected while it remained a “no-go” area.

Shaikh Liaquat announced that the establishment of Nazir Hussain University and other welfare centres and nursing homes in the city would provide relief to the people.

Muttahida’s candidate for NA-255 byelection Dr Farooq Sattar said his first priority would be to banish fear of the terrorists and terrorism from the minds of the people of the area besides addressing to their basic needs.

He also criticised the double standards of the religious parties.
