HYDERABAD, June 16: Five bandits, believed to be involved in the Nathu Mallah village killings, fled from Nooriabad area on the Super Highway on Sunday night, bringing their four-day long chase by police to an end.

Hyderabad DPO (operation) A.D. Khawaja told this correspondent that the distance between the police and the bandits, led by Ali Barnani Khoso, could have been covered by a journey of six to seven hours.

The police, with the help of foot trackers, chased the bandits who disappeared in the industrial area of Nooriabad. The police believed that the bandits had boarded some vehicle.

The police team was said to have faced shortage of vehicles.

A joint team of the Hyderabad and Thatta police took part in the chase. Police from Dadu was also called to prevent the bandits from escaping.

On Saturday night, the police managed to kill two of the fleeing criminals, identified as Wahid Bukhsh Chang and Ali Hassan.

The police began chasing the bandits after they shot dead six villagers of Nathu Mallah Goth, 35km away from Bulri Shah Karim on Thursday night.

The deceased were the members of the family of Nathu Mallah, whose information facilitated police to eliminate three bandits, Ghulam Nabi alias Fauji Panwhar, Rano Siyal and Sikandar Tangwani, in Ayub Mallah village near Jhoke Sharif on June 10.

The former is the brother of Moryo Chang, a close accomplice of Khoso, who fled with Ghaffar Abbasi, Ahmed Khaskheli and others, the police said.

The Bulri Shah Karim police has registered the murder case of six villagers against 12 accused on the complaint of Nathu Mallah.
